the bottom is a flat panel,,6mm makes sense, if you did 5mm add glass to the inside, don't try 4mm. To reduce weight it would make more sense to eliminate deck glass, ring nails and cut 6oz cloth on the bias to replace the 9oz 3' tape. Or eliminate 6oz cloth altogether and use a doubled piece of 4oz on the hull bottom with 4oz up the sides. Saving weight by reducing size of wood gets iffy in a design where everything is a particular size for a reason.
