Thanks. I appreciate your comments and ideas. The 6mm bottom just looks a little thick to me. I've worked as a marine engineer in the past with steel structures and I think there may be some opportunity with the bottom to lighten it up. I just thought I'd ask if anyone has tried it before spending a lot of time looking into it. Of course every design change comes with some tradeoffs. I want to take this boat fishing in some fairly calm water and "the lighter, the better" as far as lugging it around goes.
