lowering volume in Ch-16
Posted by Lenny Flank on Oct 7, 2005
Hi, everyone. I've built a few skin-and-frame kayaks, and now I want to make a stitch-n-glue Chesapeake 16 from the offsets and plans in "The New Kayak Shop". But, since I'm a rather small guy (5'6", 140 lbs) and don't do much long-distance touring, I want to make it lower-volume. I'm thinking if I lower the top edges of the side panel offsets by 1/2 - 3/4 inch or so, and maybe increase the radius of the decks to make them flatter, that'll do the trick. Has anyone ever attempted such a thing? Any potential problems with this that anyone can see?
Many thanks for any advice you can offer. :>
