Karl; If the piece of wood showing inside the hull is what we are both refering to as the spreader, you should not see it at that part of the hull, drop it straight down (vertical, towards the floor) and spread the hull out where the shear clamps are epoxied to the hull panel to the required spread. That should be the only spreader bar in the hull. Working with just the two top panels wired together at the ends and the spreader bar at the shear clamp, the edge of the panels that get stitched to the bottom panels should already have a slight tilt towards the center, not vertical like your photos show.
