I do remember seeing something on a website, but I don't remember where it was. It used two aluminum square beams with holes drilled along their length, epoxied onto each side of the hull, and a metal bar between them --- adjustable by placing it into different holes.
Seems like an awful lot of trouble, though. Heavy, too. I think I'd just splurge for the 25 bucks and get some Keepers.
But then, I'm just using a couple of wood blocks. No one but me uses any of my kayaks anyway.
