Re: Sanding varnish reqt'

Thanks for the replies (Steve, that looks great). I shouldn't have said "no dust"...but nearly so. I took great pains to avoid it. The shop was cleaned intently (took me an entire day!), even dusting on top of light fixtures, etc. Then a let what dust I had disturbed re-settle and cleaned again. Then before spraying I wet the concrete floor, lit the woodstove (which I had already filled...to avoid creating more dust) and waited an hour for anything I had already disturbed to settle. Then sprayed and left the area for a couple hours until the varnish was dry to the touch.

The only problem I had was a few sags where I sprayed a bit to heavily. The second coat (last night) went on great know that I knew how it went on.

I did sand with 320, then used a scotch-brite bad to wash the whole boat and dried. I think I'll try your approach and just do scotchbrite this time as this second coat looks great..no sags, bugs, minimal dust.
