bubbles in glass

Posted by Steven Laughmiller on Nov 7, 2004

I just finished last weekend fiberglassing the hull and have put an additional coat of epoxy on the hull. Glass is not completely filled yet but getting close. Anyway, while applying the second coat of epoxy, I have noted numerous small bubbles in the glass; I am assuming from outgassing. Did not notice them when putting the initial coat of epoxy on (used a squeegie/brush combination). They are not very large but show more than I would like. The hull will be painted (probably dark blue or maybe green). Should I sand these out before applying more coats of epoxy? As they are not very large or bulbous, is more glass needed or just sand smooth to feather edge and apply more epoxy? Fairing compound? Any help is appreciated. And also how to prevent this in the future when I do the deck. Got to get this thing done!!
