Thanks for sharing the link to Jays dowel method. I think I'll use that method for my Mill Creek. I'd love to hear opinions from the group on some questions.
1. It seems that more pressure will be applied under the wood wheel that is used to tighten the deck. Would more support directly under that wheel help distribute the stress? Or does it make more sense to use the same supports that CLC suggest in their kit?
2. I won't be doing any rolls in my Mill Creek, but wonder if this nob on the deck would be a hazard for sportier kayaks.
3. Is there any reason not to get funky on the shape of the hatch opening? It seems with this approach, you could cut your hatch to any shape.
