Nice Deck fittings?

Hi, I can't help wondering why there don't appear to be any nice deck fittings available. I've seen some really clunky looking plastic ones. I've also seen the recessed cloth ones, but they don't do it for me. It seems to me that it should be possible to make really nice, smooth, low-profile, stainless-steel fittings for deck lines and bungees. So why haven't I been able to find them? I guess maybe the suggestion of using metal is an anathema to the knotheads? ;^)
