Chester Yawll - Build Table Q’s

Hi,

Our Chester Yawl kit has arrived and we are setting up our basement shop for the build.  (We are first time boat builders.)

How important is it that the tables upon which the boat will be built - specifically the Chester Yawl - be equal height and level fore and aft?

We have three identical 72"x30" tables, but given the change in flooring they're sitting on and missing end caps they're somewhat uneven.

Assuming I can figure out how to post a photo, it will show the tables, shop, and the tape measure represents the 15' length of the CY.

Hi alienbogey, I built my Chester Yawl using two sawhorses only, no table at all. I invested some time to get them properly aligned, and, of course, checked the hull shape multiple times before bringing in the epoxy. BR, J

How to post photos on the CLC forum

Having all the tables level (left/right, front/back) at the same level makes building much easier, especially on a first-time build. If you can't level the tables, then level the boat.
