The "book" says that the max weight for a motor is 40 pounds. A Torqeedo 1.0 tips the scale at 44. Are those four extra pounds an issue?

In response to Lazlo's post, it might suffice to just take the battery module and tiller off. The shaft and motor module is pretty light.

If it was my boat I wouldn't worry about the extra 10%. The JSII transom is 2 layers of plywood well-braced by the knees and seats and taped fillets holding it all together. I would, howerver, take the motor off for trailering. Fortunately, being electric, there's no fuel or oil mess to worry about.
