Measuring for seat position on J-Skiff
Hi all,
Is there a good method for determining the fore-to-aft position of things on the hull from plans? They show a straight line from stem to stern, but there is a curve to the hull at this stage of the build. I've taken to taping a string from the tip of the bow to the transom and marking it where things ought to go, but there is bound to be some angle introduced if I were to use something like a plumb-bob to mark that spot on the hull itself.
Along the same lines, how do you establish the 'level' at which the seats should be pitched? Should a string taped from the prow to the transom centerline be level, and the seats matched to that?
Thank you!
