sanding into glass and seal coat questions WD12 Hybrid

Hi All

In one or two spots I have sanded into(but not through) the glass.  Will it disappear when covered with fresh epoxy?

Also

Preparing to glass the deck.  Thinking about doing a seal coat first.  What are your thoughts pro or con.

Thanks

Doug

I think you should be fine putting more epoxy on over the glass, based on my limited experience. I also liked doing a seal coat 1st, when temps are dropping. Just my thoughts.

Hi Doug,

a can of denatured alcohol is your friend in boat building.

take a clean cotton rag or white paper towel, soak it with denatured alcohol, and wipe it over the area that you want to test.  if it looks nice and clear as you swipe it (before the alcohol evaporates) that is what it will look like after you put some epoxy over it.  if you can still see weave when its wet with alcohol, that is the same effect you will have after applying epoxy.

the technique also has the added benefit of ensuring a clean surface before the next round of epoxy....especially if there has been some time passed since the last coat.

hope that helps

h
