First time builder epoxy question... I had just a little goober of epoxy left over the other day, smeared on the top of the bare rail on my dory and wiped it with a rag to clean it up and noticed how very smooth it was the next day! So yesterday I had a little left over from a one-squirt batch in a cup and it was enough to wipe on the rails and cover them completely even if only a very thin, but very smooth, film/coat, This morning it is totally smooth with almost no sanding required.
Has anyone applied epoxy by wiping it on and rubbing it out to a very thin film?

I've done it on a carbon fiber mast, worked about how you described it.
It didn't seem worth it on the hull because I had to sand a bunch to fair it anyway.
