Along with the good advice given, don't be afraid to consider sanding by hand. I used the ROS on the first two but decided to hand sand the 3rd. It probably added 4 hours to the project but no swirl marks and it was easier on the paper and a lot less dust. I used Norton sandpaper sold at Home Depot. I really lives up to the manufacturer's claims.
