I really don't think it matters which panel to start with. Do a dry run making sure you have a nice clean cut at the joint on the panel to be installed first. Slip the rough joint of the second panel beneath the first. You may want to use a pencil to make some reference marks so that everything will be in the same position when you glue and nail.

Glue and nail the first panel, leaving out the last couple of nails at each joint. The second panel will easily slip into place under the first. Glue and nail it down.

Make your cut (as per Building Tips) at the joint on the second panel(the scrap will pull out as the epoxy has not had time to set). gently lift the end pieces and brush in a little more thickened epoxy and finish nailing both pieces.

Glue and clamp your butt block - trim edges.
