C-17(LT) or C-16?

I am trying to decide whether I should build my wife a Chesapeake 16 or go with the 17 LT. I currently have a C-17 and she likes the design but wants something a little smaller. She is almost 6' tall, weighs about 155, and is a novice paddler. If I was building this soley for her use I would probably choose the 16 but considering that other family and friends (some of whom are more my size (6'2" - 6'4" and 180-200 lbs) will occassionally use the kayak too, I am thinking that the C-17(Light) might be a better choice. Any suggestions one way or the other?
