you did everything correctly,,just because there's a defined radius at the deck beam or bulkhead doesn't mean the wood could continue farther from that defining element at the ends. The contributing forces that enable a curve at one part of the deck aren't there at the ends. Imagine bending a 2' long piece of plywood, it's easy,,now bend a 6" piece, it's not as easy.
