Re: rubber hatches

I've put rubber VCP hatches on 2 CLC boats with cambered decks, and they work fine. I fashioned mini-"hatch rims" in exactly the same way that the coaming rims are made. Although a lot of people seem to worry about leakage with this method, the rubber is very flexible and I've had no problems. Doing things this way doesn't really save time, though, as it takes time to make the small plywood rims and to trim/sand them down to an exact fit, which is necessary to avoid leakage.
