Just chiming in. I like the bolt idea since I don't have the fancy tools :-)

I didn't do this on my son's ch-14 and when my brother looked at the the shiny painted hull with tons of round bumps where the nail heads were he figured I had built a metal boat and that the round bumps were rivets to hold the wood deck down! UGH!
