If you want an inexpensive sail Terry, you should have used Tyvek. Tyvek is a nylon paper and the stuff builders use for house insulation. It's cheap (free, if ask the nearest contractor), nearly tear proof and real easy to sew on a light sewing machine. I'm doing my first set of sails in Tyvek. The finished sail will look weird with "Tyvek" written all over, but then I saved $$$$$$. And Lee, if you think this idea outlandish, I suggest you go to Platt Montfort's website. Platt uses and recommends Tyvek all the time for the amateur boat builder. Nuff said...
