Re: Seat for MC 13

there are a lot of ways to go about this,,i had a MC13 for awhile,,had a custom glass seat on rails then settled on the most convenient low tech method around that worked just fine for everyone. An orange flotation cushion, a 72" Z-rest camp pad rolled up and tied then jammed under the coaming and on top of the orange cusion at the back bulkhead. The camp pad made a comfy back rest, jammed into place it didn't come out,,all parts useful for other important activities. Ok,,carving a seat is a fine idea, the challenge is have a back rest that stays with the seat. THis is the combination that makes a lot of sense, give Wenona a call and buy a tractor glass seat on aluminum frame, make some rails on the bilge panels or the bottom and configure an attachment,,thereafter all kinds of back rests can be attached to the seat rail. http://www.wenonah.com/accessories/ Not to dissuade you from seat carving,,I had a carved minicell seat in the MC before it was hijacked to a kayak but a lot of the attraction for minicell in sea kayaks is that it can be used in a lot of places to pad out and provide support. The wenonah tractor seat has been on their canoes for a LONG time and they are used. http://www.wenonah.com/accessories/
