Seat for MC 13

I love the boat but I want to make a carved minicell foam seat to replace the slat seat (way too hard on my back and butt). I need to remove the two wood stips that secure the original seat. How would I mount and ensure the correct height for the molded seat? Second question - what would be a good seat back?
