Doug, nobody has replied to your questions, so I'll take a stab at it...
First of all, it is interesting that you just received your HB; I also got a package in the mail yesterday. A chunk of 4" thick minicell, out of which I will sculpt a reverse-image of Leslie's... um... err... Say, nice weather we're having, ain't it?
Anyway (sweat), I like what I heard from LeeG early on, something to the effect that "finding comfort in a kayak - and the same is true on a bicycle - isn't always easy." As on old, washed-up biker I KNOW what that means. You must experiment to find what works best for you. And I am here to tell you that 6- and 8-hour comfort in a kayak *is* attainable.
I would never glue a seat in a yak, not after all the trouble we went to over inventing Velcro. I want everything, and I mean everything, in my cockpit to be removable for airing out after a wet weekend. (For me, that ususally means getting rained on.)
Cheers, Kurt
