Re: Run of The Charles

It is an annual event on the Charles River in Boston.
On a similar note, I have some questions perhaps some of the more experienced kayakers here can answer. I have a Ch 17 LT. I do triathlons occaisionally, which have 'yaks in place of swimming. I have been psyched when they are on flat water and can use my 17 LT. However, sometimes they are on rivers, so I borrow a plastic boat, which is somewhat painful. Some people have the funky downriver racing kayaks, which fly. It seems these were popular in the 70's and 80's, but nobody in this country makes them now, although they are popular in other countries such as NZ, AU, UK. Are these boats really rare, or does nobody sell them used?
Lastly, it seems that wing paddles are what the "serious" racers use, assuming proper technique, how much of an upgrade is it over a traditional wooden paddle such as those available from CLC? Once you use a wing paddle, do you never go back? Is it a faux pas to use a wing paddle with a wooden boat?
Should I just build a Pax 20 with wheels on the bottom for the shallow parts?
