Re: Kit Deckbeams

I built a 14 without a deck beam. I just figured out what the height of the deck should be at the beam and nailed it on. It was pretty easy working back from the forward bulkhead. Came out pretty close. Next deck of this type I'll try something like a simple upright post screwed perpendicularly to a wooden base. Placed in the cockpit, this should fix the deck height accurately where the beam should be. It gets removed after the deck is on. May work, may not. Tune is sometime in the fall to find out, as I'm so far behind finishing the other boats that have to be ready by summer that I wonder if I'll ever finish the little 14 sitting stitched up in the basement.
