Sapele is a beautiful reddish-brown African wood with a deep, swirling grain. Sapele is stiffer and heavier than Okoume and is often used for transoms, kayak decks, and bulkheads. Chesapeake Light Craft's Sapele marine grade plywood is manufactured in Europe's finest mills to specs exceeding British Standard 1088 (BS1088). It's getting hard to find, but our importer works with us to insure we have a wide selection.
Over the last 25 years, CLC has developed a specialty in shipping plywood all over the United States and has become one of the most widely used marine plywood suppliers in the lower 48 states. Careful packaging allows us to ship small orders of marine plywood via freight carrier, delivered right to your door.
We keep a healthy inventory of Sapele plywood in stock at our Annapolis, Maryland shop. Local pickup is welcome! Please call ahead to check availability. For showroom hours and directions click here.
Shipping Notes: Our shipping department will obtain a quote from our freight carriers for all plywood shipments. Online orders will not be charged or processed until the customer approves the shipping quote.
Full-size sheets (4' x 8') of Okoume plywood must be packaged and shipped on a pallet per freight carrier requirements. Shipping rates typically start at $600.
Half-sheets (4' x 4') of Okoume plywood, which can be shipped Ground without a pallet, are subject to an oversize surcharge. Shipping rates typically start at $175. We can cut half-sheets to (2) 2' x 4' sheets and ship via Ground at a reasonable price. Please call us for more information if you have any questions.
