Putting the lid on a duck

Tomorrow I tack weld the deck to the hull, but I'm getting cold feet. The entire interior, both deck and hull, have not been sanded and are rough in spots.

Is it best to sand and varnish the entire interior before putting on the lid, or should I leave it the way it is and sand/varnish what I can reach when the lid is attached and I'm finishing the whole boat?

The manual makes no mention of sanding the interior at this stage of the game, but it seems like the logical time.
