Thanks Kyle and Bob. On the hatches, per Master Boat Builder John Beck's instructions, I used an Exacto razor saw to cut them out. And as far as using the boat, under Master Paddler Kurt Maurer's expert instruction, he done learned me how to roll that pig the first day out! That is when I learned how poorly the hatches sealed. After that day, I ended up trying a different type of weather stripping purchased from a box store. I am pleased to report that the new stuff seals fairly well :) It's fun to be upside down!
