It's possible that there was more movement at the front cradle, than the main one, hence the unequal scuffing. For a quick-and-dirty solution, you could try adding some of that foam pipe insulation from your local big-box store. Its sticky on the inside, and pre-slitted. Something else I've seen done: wrap the cradle in several layers of heavy duty cloth (denim or similar). Also ensure that there's no sand sticking to the hull when you load it, and tie down the boat good and tight to reduce movement. You might want to pad the tie-down straps also.
