Does not really matter which order you select but remember that you can paint over varnish but not varnish over paint. They will both stick to each other when properly scuff sanded but the varnish looks yucky over paint.

I prefer to varnish the deck first then let it cure long enough to mask of the paint line then paint the hull. For masking use 3M Fine Line tape. Its the light green sort of plastic stuff. Costs a bundle but works superbly. Will do a curve much better than paper tape.

I also prefer to pull the tape after each coat sets but before its cured like in an hour or so. Some guys will pull the tape after all the painting is done.

For a stripe I would do the varnish, paint then stripe.
