I can't foresee any issues with that combination. If you want to keep it simple (cheap), just go with a set of the foam blocks to set the kayak onto, use a decent set of Cam buckle type tie downs and make sure you connect bow and stern lines as insurance, especially if you do highway driving.

If you want more complex, i.e. more expensive, the Thule Port Side J-cradles are sturdy and will mount to Thule, Yakima and factory crossbars. That is what I use to transport my 18' Chesapeake on the roof of my tiny Nissan Versa. Search the posts for "monster boat, toy car" for a pic.

Regardless of your combination, I would still recommend bow and stern lines. Don't overtension them, just pull them tight enough to control some sway and help prevent accidental airborne launches...
