block plane at an angle drastically shortens the effective sole and lets you plane amazingly sharp curves.

If that doesn't work, then a spokeshave set thin will do the job.

A belt sander will work, BUT- one wobble and you can be in trouble. Remember - any error on planing those edges will be a double error- cut too deeply and you have two pieces wrong and they won't match up correctly to the mating edge either.
