Re: new stroke?

I'm having trouble finding it just now, but there's an old Sea Kayaker Magazine article that discusses a Greenland champion kayaker's stroke. I think it's the reverse of what you are doing, with the top (outside) edge canted forward about 40 degrees. This also produces a propeller effect, and prevents flutter, but takes some getting used to. There's the added benefit that the blade pops out of the water as you start to pull forward at the end of the stroke. I have not yet provided myself with a Greenland stick so have not been able to experiment. They do seem to allow many variations of technique!
