I think rubrails are keen on the right boat. I have one Great Auk striper with a really rounded shear. It does not have a rubrail and would not look good with one. I also have a Bear Mtn Endeavor striper. It has a sharp edge at the deck/hull line. It has a rubrail and I think it enhances the looks. I used mahogany and tapered both ends from about 4 feet back. I tapered both sideways and from the bottom to the top.
