Here's mine. Frome my website:
"It is a Berkely unit mounted to a cleverly shaped piece of 1/2" baltic birch plywood. The plywood base wedges under the coaming lip, then a screw, wing nut, and fender washer hold it securely down in front. This cost one 1/4" hole in the deck, which is covered by the bungee cord when the holder is removed."
It's unfinished in the photo, is why it looks white, and the Berkely holder is the best, I think (low mass, light weight). Good choice! But...
I have since found it preferable to dispense with the rod holder altogether, and simply stow my rigs on deck. I'm carrying two these days, a fly rod and a spinning outfit.
