I have built several boats , including the West River . Its a great boat but very tippy compared to the Chesapeake . Its also a bear to line up the different chines . Mine were crooked the first 3 times , it can be frustrating . Its very fast . I have paddled next to a boat with a GPS speedo and he had me at 7 mph . I don't know how long I could have kept it up but I did prove a point . Good Luck
