Re: my first finished kay

The hatch arrangement is with bungee cord. On the inside sidepanels are 2 pieces of plastic tubing cut in half and covered with some fiberglass tape. On the hatches are the same frames used for on-top-of-the-deck hatches, in which i put 4 stainless steel hooks. Quite easy actually.

The greenland paddle is build from 'wawa'(obeche is a more currently used name). Tips are sipo mahog (much harder and stiffer than honduras). On the outside of the 'blades' i put some cotton thread drained in epoxy. Very hard indeed. And finished with a couple of layers of 1 part pu varnish. And in the last layer of varnish i poured some salt on the shaft, so i doesn't slip. Very good trick, but hard on the hands, hahaha. Thats where my gloves come in handy. Weighs in at around 900 grams (a little less). And they work marvelously, i love'em.
