You would be better off covering the hull with a polly tarp than putting wax on it prior to finishing. One of my boats has been finished for 2 years and I haven't varnished the deck yet. While it is only outside when being paddeled , I would say that there haven't been any brake-down of the epoxy on the deck. GO paddeling , cover the boat if your concerned and keep the wax in the can.You will be kicking yourself if you get fish-eye in the paint & varnish becouse there was some wax resadue left on your hull.
