Re: Painting over varnish

I just finished painting the hull and I've already varnished the deck. Because of my sawhorses I haven't been able to paint over the deck to form that one inch border. Tonight I flip the boat and paint that on over the varnish.

Any ideas on preparing the varnish for painting? I was just planning on sanding with 320. I'm reluctant to use the solvent I bought for thinning the paint and preparing the hull.
