If you're going to use foam, you should be sure that it's closed cell foam. The spray can stuff is open cell, which can absorb water. Something like a USCG approved structural 2-part foam would be a better choice. It weighs 2 lbs per cubic foot and is much more crush-resistant than the spray can stuff.
