James, I asked the same few days ago and CLC's response was "just srew them into sheer clamp and seat the screws into epoxy". However since my arrangement is supposed to withstand towing I currently plan to install two stacked backing plates - one underneath the clamps and the other behind the clamps and on top of the first. Both will be glued to clamps, sides and one to another. Then after installing the deck I'll drill oversized holes through stacked plates, fill them with thickened epoxy to the top and screw into fresh epoxy, so that it sets around the thread. I found this tip on West Systems site.
