Storage Overhead
Posted by Alan Mapes on Nov 23, 2004
I store two kayaks over my Subaru in the garage, hanging there ready to lower onto the car racks. This system works great for my Chessie 17 and my Greenland skin-on-frame (35 lbs.). Here is an article explaining the basic rope and pulley set-up. I use two loops of 1" nylon, each with a hook that engages the lower pulley - this artical uses carabiners - that would work fine, too.
I expecially like not having to lift the boats onto the car when loading them to go paddle.
Cheers, Alan
