Jeremy,

I have a niece and nephew who own Wilderness System kayaks with the seats you've mentioned.

Once adjusted, they are good for rolls and braces etc.

They have found that these seats can get uncomfortable on longer trips however.

I think the "bottom" line is to see if you can try a yak with the seat in question for an extended paddle.

Frontenac Outfitters near Kingston Ontario is a Wilderness Systems dealer, and is big on letting you try stuff.

As far as designing cockpits and seats, there are some great sites, and it seems to come down to minicell most of the time.

Keep tryin'. LeeG says it takes a few shots but you'll eventually get it.
