Rob; I went with teak oil finish for my rails and after one season I'm happy I did. I fish from my boat and often have to adjust the boats position with one hand for the paddle and one for the rod. This results in lots of contact between the paddle and the rub rails. They have held up well with minimal maintenence. If you haven't tried fishing form a kayak, it's a blast. We get a lot of bluefish around here in the summer and those babies can provide some real excitement when hooked from a narrow 17' boat. Good luck.
