Mac From Montreal here. I plan to (have to) store my kayak in a terribly damp granite-floored summer cottage basement in the Laurentian mountains. The temp will easily hit -40 with humidity at 100%. All the research I've done says to make sure the boat is DRY, DRY, DRY and hatches are all open. It seems that snow and rain accumulating on the boat and freezing and melting are the real damagers. Also leaving the boat in the sun during all this is a bad idea.

Ah well, I'll let you know in the spring.
