that agrees with what I've seen. Once you figure in all the materials beyond the kit the cost is close to $1000. It's hard to recoup labor cost for kit constructions if you're not in the business of getting paid for your labor building boats already. In that case you wouldn't be buying kits. Once there's any appreciable cosmetic wear/age the price drops.
