Re: tight fit

I have the same long leg condition; Im 62. I lengthened the standard CLC cockpit opening 2 1/2 inches. I discovered the problem on my first kayak. There was enough room to enlarge the cockpit opening back the 2 1/2 inches without interfering with the rear bulkhead. So I chiseled the coaming off down to the deck and made the new longer coaming and glued it on and enlarged and cleaned up the deck opening. It came out great. You cant tell it was a modification. Enlarging to the rear also allowed moving the seat back a couple inches to reduce weathercocking.

I highly recommend enlarging the opening to allow swinging your knees in and out while seated. It makes for much easier self-rescues, especially the scramble (cowboy) re-entry and allows having your feet out for a quicker exit in the backwash of a beach landing.
