Thanks for the info Mark. I went to the Wooden boat forum and did a search on the subject. Seems to be a lot of disagreement on the subject. I dont think I would use an epoxy for an oak joint in a structural use. but having said that I am going to go ahead with the oak rub rails. I intend to nail them anyhow. I like the look. and if the joint fails I can always use the mahogony supplyed in the kit. The boat wont sink if the rub rail delaminates.
