As Jeffrey and Doug have said, definitely before. The archives also contain some pretty spiffy tips, and here is a photo of one that worked out well for me. Put down a strip of painters tape at your desired 1" to 2" below the sheer. Then a strip of regular old packing tape on top of and extending below that. Then tape on sheets of plastic, garbage bags, paper, whatever on top of that to catch drips so they do not get on your hull. Drape the glass, fill with epoxy. Wait a bit, put on fill coat. When still "green" use razor blade to cut along top of blue tape. Peel. Voila! Seemed like a lot of prep work to me, but I have to say this worked *really* well.
